On Friday, Sept. 21,
2012, Special Collections' friends, supporters and colleagues gathered in Billings "to celebrate
a milestone for the Libraries and the University as a whole: the 50th
anniversary of Special Collections, UVM’s home for our most cherished books,
manuscripts, archives, maps, photographs—the home of the cultural heritage of
Vermont itself," as Dean Mara Saule said her remarks.
Mara's speech was followed by UVM President Tom Sullivan's praise of the work done by Special Collections and the importance of retuning the department to its original home in Billings.

After an incredible, inspiring speech by Mark Dimunation, about the value of Special Collections in the 21st Century, Jeff Marshall toasted to the important work of collecting and sharing Vermont's history with the future.
Congrats to all who worked so very hard to put on such a powerful and elegant event.
