I. SIP/SCPI
The Cost Structure/Productivity Improvement Committee has come up with 20 proposals. Sarah Gordon and Alison Armstrong represent the Libraries in this group. These proposals will first be reviewed by the full SIP Committee in a day-long retreat, Wednesday, April 11. Afterwards, they will be posted and circulated.
II. FY 13
The Libraries will receive a five-percent increase to the acquisitions budget again. No increase in the operating budget. Staff will receive 2-percent raises across the board. . Merit will not be awarded, but Sarah emphasized that evaluations are a valuable tool for staff and their supervisors.
III. Campaign Priorities
Billions of dollars of priorities were put forth by units. Nearly all will be forwarded to see which donors are interested.
IV. Libraries’ Goals Aligned with Strategic Plan and Initiatives
For the next meeting, council members have been asked to fill out the status row on a form about Libraries strategic initiatives and process alignment.
V. Online Distance Learning
BISK Education Inc manages recruitment and support for online degrees, and will do so with UVM. The Faculty Senate has approved a certificate for speech and language pathology, as well as in public health that will grow into a master’s degree. Also expected to be added are a master’s in environmental leadership and master’s in education.
VI. Staffing Changes/Searches
Nelson Sears has been hired as Dana’s business manager. He comes to the Libraries from the LGBTQA House, and has a broad range of experience. Andrea is helping out one or two days a week and will help with Nelson’s transition.
VII. PRIMO
There will be a discovery tool open forum on Friday, April 13 at 1 p.m. in BH Classroom 123. The tool can be tested at http://primotest.uvm.edu/primo_library/libweb/action/search.do?vid=UVM
There will be other opportunities for feedback, as well.
