Farewell Darcelene!

On Friday, June 22, we celebrated Darelene's 37 years of service to the UVM Libraries. It was a party fit for a queen, our queen of all good things! Known for her dedication to community service, as well as her work, Darcelene will also be remembered for her vigorous rendition of the budget report at the annual meeting. Not surprisingly, her retirement party was well attended, and everyone in attendance was well fed!

One party-goer wondered out loud who would open the doors to Bailey/Howe that now Darcelene will no longer do the honors.  Hmmm...

We will greatly miss Darcelene's generous heart, but we hope she'll make special guest appearances at every Libraries' event--especially the annual meeting.

Dana Gets a New Desk, and So Does Media

Earlier this week, Scott and company dismantled Dana's front desk and replaced it with a space-saving one-stop info shop.

The old desk was re-purposed as the new service point in BH's media department.

Media is delighted to inherit the furniture. "It looks so much more professional," Anne notes.

AWARD NOMINATIONS: Deadline is June 22

The deadline is this Friday! Please take a moment to nominate one or more of your colleagues for:

The Delmar Janes Staff Excellence Award (two are given this award)
The Milton H. Crouch Faculty Excellence in Research Award
The Faculty Excellence in Educational Mission Award

The nomination forms, along with the criteria, can be found at the password-protected Libstaff site:
https://library.uvm.edu/libstaff/committees/awards/index.html

The review committee this year includes the following people:

Dan DeSanto, Roger Wiberg (last year's winners) and Sue Bishop for the Staff Awards
Laura Haines (last year's winner) and Amber Billey for the Faculty Awards

Although it's a compressed timeframe, we do believe it will work better for everyone to have the nominations and party before the Fall semester is upon us.

Please submit nominations, and supporting materials to any member of the committee.

Summer Picnic

Eat, drink and be wary of how much amazing food one group of people can produce and consume! Seriously, though, the annual Libraries' picnic offered great food, perfect cool weather and lots of consversations between past and present and future (see Scott's picture) colleagues. Thanks to all who planned, prepared, presented and then put it all away.
